In Beta

Please be aware that this is still a work in progress, and there are a few kinks that I need to iron out.

I will probably change the theme and the blog will undergo extreme makeover from its current look. I may even change the name. I admit that it was a rather hasty decision to name it, but I now think that it should have been better. The punchline remains, because that’s what I mean to write. But my friend pointed out (and I too felt) that “surreal” was too vague and disinteresting a name.

What do you suggest? Should I retain “The Surreal Me”? Should I revert to “The Pensieve”? Or should I go with another name. I have opened a poll in the left sidebar. Please vote.

So please keep that in mind when you update your blogroll. I would suggest not updating until the poll is closed in 15 days. The older blogspot address will automatically redirect till then.

    I like the theme. The Surreal Me isnt bad although I thought your blog name would actually be The Pensieve Redux.

    Good luck with the renaming, if you decide upon that. I am polling for the third option :)

    I don’t know… The Pensieve is kinda difficult to let go, after 3 years of blogging.

    I’m actually glad you got out of ‘Pensieve’ thing … Harry Potter names just get a little old when you grow up :P And surreal sounds too extreme a word, don’t you think? … your by-line sounds good, I’ll say that :)
    And yea, love your search! :P I’ll try and do something like that for mine. Cheers on the new place!

    That’s bullshit. I refuse to grow up w.r.t. Harry Potter craze.

    My only problem is that Pensieve is a common name for too many blogs out there. Heck, even one of my friends have two pensieves side-by-side in his blogroll!

    And, yes, surreal sounded improper to me…that’s why the poll.

    BTW, you should port your search suggest to WP. I checked… There is no plugin so far except a lame one copied from Google Suggest JS code. (That shows the Google results!)

    I just spent about 2-3 hours writing my own version of your search (AJAX type). Plus, I think a query to the database is more accurate than pulling in results from Google, not to mention faster :)

    I have all the Harry Potter books on my bookshelf. Am a major fan. Once I went to a school where some organizers were having a HP quiz. The kids of the school, being too small couldnt answer much. I didnt realize then I was the only adult who kept answering all the questions in that quiz. :) I won a pen.

    @Aditya: I still think the current system takes a toll on lesser systems because of the http payload it has to retrieve.

    @Rinchen: I have had quite a few incidents myself. We had a fan club called Forum of Witchcraft and Wizardry in my previous company.
